Combine chicken with yogurt and half the tikka masala paste. Mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Thread marinated chicken on skewers. Grill or broil on high heat for 4-5 minutes per side until charred on edges. Can also pan-fry in batches.
Heat butter and oil in a large pan. Sauté onion until soft and golden. Add garlic and ginger, cook 1 minute. Add remaining tikka paste and crushed tomatoes. Simmer 15 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream and garam masala. Add cooked chicken pieces to the sauce. Simmer together for 10 minutes until sauce thickens.
Garnish generously with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately with fluffy basmati rice and warm garlic naan.
